Northwestern’s Caleb Badura Wins GPAC Men’s Golf Title

Dakota Dunes South Dakota — Caleb Badura won the GPAC Men’s Golf Championship, a four-day, 72-hole event that concluded Wednesday evening at the Dakota Dunes Golf Club.

Badura completed the championship with a two-under 282, the only golfer to finish under par, and matched the record for the lowest four-round score at the event. Badura now shares the record with former Red Raider golfers, Justin Kraft (2018) and Neil Malenke (2013). The freshman closed with a 75 (+3) after shooting a 69 in each of the first three rounds and won the GPAC title by five strokes over Corey Matthey (Morningside). This marks the seventh time that a Red Raider claimed the GPAC’s individual title, joining Dan Laaveg (2006), Luke Vermeer (2008, 2010), Neil Malenke (2013) and Justin Kraft (2015, 2018). Badura also qualifies for the NAIA Championships as the GPAC medalist.

Northwestern finished second overall with a 72-hole total of 1,179, 16 strokes in back of GPAC Champion Morningside. The Red Raiders trailed the Mustangs by one stroke heading into Wednesdays final round; Northwestern shot the fourth best round (304) while the Mustangs closed with a 289, lowest among the 11 teams. Midland, with a final round 295, placed third overall (1,181), followed by Jamestown (1196) and Doane (1200).
