NWC Personal Records Set at NAIA Indoor Championships

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Northwestern College women’s track and field team concluded the 2021-22 Indoor Track & Field slate with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor Championships, highlighted by two personal records broken, a new indoor school record, and an All-American performance.

Kennedy Kramer (Fr., Larchwood, Iowa/West Lyon) continued her streak of top-notch performances at the championships this weekend, yet again breaking a school indoor record. She now holds four different indoor records. She broke her own record in the 400m on an oversized track, set early on the very same track inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University. Her time of 56.93 was good for ninth-place in the prelims, just 0.5 seconds away from clinching an All-American finish.

Day one saw the Raider 4x400m relay team (Abigail Clarke, Savonne Sterk, Caitlin Ostbye, Kennedy Kramer) notch an eighth-place finish in the prelims with a time of 3:52.62. The mark was nearly four full seconds better than their seed time entering the championships. In the finals, Northwestern took home All-American honors with an eighth-place finish with a time of 3:52.98.

The second day was a full day of events for the women in preliminaries for the Raider women. Clarke (Jr., Waverly, Neb./Waverly) competed in the 600m, taking a 12th-place finish with a time of 1:36.51. The mark becomes a new personal record for the junior.

Morgan Marker (Sr., Rock Valley, Iowa/Rock Valley) also set a new personal record in the 1000m. She ran a time of 3:00.29, topping her seed time by 0.4 seconds. She was just over 0.5 seconds away from earning a spot in the finals and an All-American nod.

Erin Hulberg (Fr., Brookings, S.D./Brookings) was the lone Raider to compete at the NAIA Indoor Championships in a field event, competing in the pole vault. She cleared her record-breaking mark of 3.42m that she set at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Championships.
