Atchison, Kansas — The Northwestern College softball team begins its spring break trip with a doubleheader against Bethany (Kan.) on a neutral field in Atchinson, Kan. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1pm.
Northwestern has won two straight games and is 5-3 this season; Bethany has dropped two straight, four of its last five, and is 2-4 this season.
Northwestern is 4-3 all-time against the Swedes, last playing during the 2018 season that resulted in a 9-1 Raider win. The rivalry began during the 2013 season with a 2-1 win.
Bethany is 2-4 on the year under the direction of second year head coach Gregory Cary. Earlier this season, they’ve split with Mount Marty and Hastings, and dropped a doubleheader to Concordia. Last year the Swedes went 13-11 and averaged 6 runs a game, while giving up 5 runs per game.
Northwestern is 5-3 in their 2021 campaign under the direction of 3rd year head coach Shane Bouman.
