NWC’s Vanden Berg Earns Men’s GPAC Tennis Honor

Sioux City, Iowa — Brian Vanden Berg was named the GPAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week announced by the league office Wednesday.

Vanden Berg went unbeaten last week, earning wins at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles against Mount Marty and Morningside without dropping a set. The sophomore defeated Logan Jager (Mount Marty) 6-1, 6-0 and teamed with Chris Jelken for a 6-1 win in the top doubles match against the Lancers. Vanden Berg then defeated Jaime Maza Martin (Morningsde) 6-3, 6-4 in the top singles match the very next day. He concluded the outstanding week with a 7-6, tie-break win, along with doubles partner Peyton Scott, against the No.1 doubles team from Morningside.

Vanden Berg is 3-3 in the GPAC, 6-7 overall this season in singles.
