Orab Boys Win Regular Season Finale

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs defended the home court and got the win against the Pioneers Friday night at the O-rena, 57-35 for the regular season finale.

The Orabs came out on fire and opened the contest on a 9-0 run and would lead 14-6 at the end of one behind some great passing and scoring in the paint. The second quarter belonged to Sheldon as well as they continued the same aggressive offense and kept the Pioneers at bay with some great defense and securing the defensive rebounds not allowing second chance opportunities and led 32-19 at the break. The third quarter started slow, but Kaleb Ackerman got hot and scored 11 of his game high 23 points in the third and the Orabs pushed their lead to 51-28 heading into the fourth quarter and would go on to post a 57-35 victory.

The Orabs were led in scoring by Ackerman’s 23, Shane Brouwer with 15 and Tye Sudbeck with 10 points on the evening. The Pioneers were led by two players with 9 points apiece, Lucas Lorenzen and Jaden Heller.

The Orabs ended the regular season with 9-13 mark and improved to 6-12 in the conference. The Pioneers end their regular season falling to 8-13 and 6-12 in the Siouxland.

Next up for both teams will be tournament action on Monday evening. The Orabs will travel to Rock Rapids to take on Central Lyon and Okoboji will travel Emmetsburg to take on the E-Hawks. Both games will tip off at 7 pm.
