Orab Football Season Ends With Playoff Loss

Gowrie, Iowa — The Sheldon Orab football team saw their season come to an end as they fell to District 2 Champion Southeast Valley 46-7 in a playoff opener in Gowrie Friday night.

The Jaguars scored on their first possession with a 73 yard drive capped by Lathe Muench with a 3 yard run. Muench added the extra point and it was Southeast Valley 8-0 with 8:18 left in the first quarter.

A 79 yard drive ended with a Kolson Kruse to Eli Johnson 27 yard touchdown pass. Muench added the 2 point conversion and it was 16-0 with 2:59 left in the first.

Kruse found Johnson for a 57 yard score. The 2 point conversion attempt was no good and the score was 22-0 with 10:52 left in the half.

With 3:27 left till halftime Muench capped a 57 yard drive with a 5 yard run. Muench  converted the 2 point play for a 30-0 lead.

With :37 seconds left in the half Kruse found Tre Fischer on a 53 yard touchdown pass and with Kruse going in for the 2 point play the halftime score was 38-0 in favor of the Jaguars.

In the third quarter Muench scored on a 5 yard run and with Kruse adding the 2 point conversion the lead went to 46-0 with 3:28 left in the quarter.

Sheldon got on the board with 11:54 to play as a late third quarter drive came to an end early in the fourth with Blake Radke finding Senior Cason Johannes in the left flat for a 16 yard catch and score. Mathew Meyer added the extra point to make the final 46-7 in favor of Southeast Valley.

With the win the Jaguars advance to the 2A quarterfinals with an 8-1 record. Sheldon will close the year at 3-6.
