Sioux City Iowa — The Sheldon Girls Basketball Team saw their season come to a close in the quarterfinals of the 3A Region 1 tournament Saturday. Bishop Heelan jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Crusaders ranked 3rd in the state were up at halftime 45-12 and led 57-13 at the end of the third quarter as they got the win 59-21 for their first tournament win in the new field house on campus in Sioux City.
Heelan had two players in double figures as Amber Aesoph and Wayne State comit Ella Skinner each hitting for 15 points. Brooklyn Grady led the Orabs with 11 points in the contest.
With the loss Sheldon wraps up the year at 5-17. Heelan is now 17-4 on the season and will host West Lyon who downed Sioux Center 51-38 in the other upper bracket quarterfinal. Tip off Wednesday night is set for 7:00 pm.
