Orabs Down MOC Floyd Valley in Orange City

Orange City Iowa — After two and a half quarters of scoreless football Sheldon scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter as they downed MOC Floyd Valley 14-0 to spoil homecoming for the Dutch.

Sheldon used a big play defensively to set up the offense and tip the game in their favor. On a 4th and 4 from the Sheldon 39 yard line TK Lang made the first contact as  quarterback Colton Korver dropped back to pass. Korver was able to spin out of the tackle but Damon  Johnson was there to finish the sack and Sheldon took over at their own 48 yard line.

The 52 yard drive ended when Tyrel Lindemann scored on a 6 yard jet sweep going from left to right and the Orabs had the games first score with 6:56 to play in the third quarter. The kick for the extra point failed but Sheldon had a 6-0 lead.

An interception and return by Ethan Reekers set the Orabs up at the MOC Floyd Valley 39 yard line. Brian Bernal scored on a 1 yard run with 1:35 to go in the third. Sheldon lined up to kick the extra point but threw out of the formation instead as Kaleb Ackerman found Trey Iedema on the 2-point play to put Sheldon in front 14-0. With no further scoring that would be the final.

With the win Sheldon improves to 2-3 on the year and 1-0 in the district. MOC Floyd Valley falls to 0-5 on the season. Up next for Sheldon is a home game next Friday as they host Sioux Center. MOC Floyd Valley will play host to Central Lyon George Little Rock .
