Orabs One Win Away From State Volleyball Tournament

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs are just one win away from reaching the State Volleyball tournament.

The 26-5 Orabs will face off against the 19-12 Forest City Indians at Estherville in the Class 3A Region 2 championship at 7 pm. The game will be broadcast on KIWA AM 1550/FM 100.7 and streaming at KIWARadio.com as well.

The Orabs started tournament play with a a 3-0 sweep over Okoboji, set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-12, behind Emma Barwick’s 44 assists along with Payton Lode and Claire Johnson each with double digit kills.

Sheldon continued their winning ways against Spirit Lake in the region semifinal with a 3-1 win. Set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19. Barwick led the team with 32 assists and Lode and Johnson each had double digit kills once again. Maddie Olson added 11 blocks on defense.

The Orabs face the Forest City Indians, who are 19-12 on the year, but most of their losses have come against perennial volleyball powerhouses such as Waverly Shell Rock, Osage, Ankeny, and many larger schools.

First serve with a ticket to state on the line is at 7pm at Estherville.
