Payton Mauldin Named NAIA Track Athlete Of The Week

Dordt stand out Payton Mauldin was named the NAIA Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by the national office Wednesday. Mauldin was among 20 nominees from around the NAIA for the weekly top honor and was selected by a national committee. He had earlier earned GPAC Athlete of the week honors this week as well.

Mauldin hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard in two events, 800m and 4×400 relay at the Jim Emmerich Invite, established a school record with his time (1:50.87) in the 800m, broke his old record set earlier this season. He also has the fastest time in the NAIA in the 800m and anchored the Defenders 4×400 relay team that met ‘A’ standard time of 3:16.1 – #3 time in the NAIA, 2nd fastest in history of the Dordt program.

Mauldin also has the second fastest time in the NAIA in the 600m and is a 7x NAIA All-American. He is a former George Little Rock – Central Lyon track standout.
