AMES, Iowa- Iowa State QB Brock Purdy was honored by the Davey O’Brien Award and the Manning Award for his performance vs. TCU over the weekend.
Purdy, who is on the watch list for both prestigious awards, was honored as a “Great 8” performer from the Davey O’Brien Award and was one of eight “Stars of the Week” by the Manning Award.
Both awards are given annually to the nation’s best quarterback.
A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Purdy thrilled Cyclone fans at Jack Trice Stadium with his school-record fourth-straight 300-yard offensive performance in ISU’s 49-24 win vs. TCU on Saturday.
Purdy had 349 yards of total offense, passing for 247 yards on 19-of-24 attempts and rushing for a career-high 102 yards. He had two passing TDs and two rushing TDs to become one of four players in FBS this year with multiple games of at least two rushing TDs and two passing TDs (ULM, TCU).
Purdy also recorded the longest rush of the season (44 yards) in the victory.
Purdy is having a fantastic sophomore season, ranking fifth nationally in both total offense (356.2) and passing yardage (315.6).
Purdy was also a “Great 8” performer after breaking the school record for total offense (510) vs. ULM on Sept. 21.
