Raiders Push Win Streak to Five With Sweep vs CSM

Omaha, Nebraska — The Northwestern College softball team scored 22 runs in a double header sweep against College of Saint Mary played Friday in Omaha, Neb. The Raiders defeated the Flames 11-1 (5 innings) in game one and earned an 11-9 win in game two.

Northwestern has won five straight games heading into Saturday’s doubleheader against No.20 Morningside, improving to 12-4 in the GPAC, 25-9 overall.

Game One: 11-1 win (5 innings)
Northwestern had a 3-0 lead until an 8-run sixth inning where they sent 11 batters to the plate. Emily Strasser hit a pair of home runs in the 8-run sixth; the junior led off with a solo shot and then hit a three-run home run to cap the scoring. Strasser totaled four RBI and was one of four Raiders with two hits. Kameryn Etherington carred a perfect game into the fifth inning; the freshman improved to 16-3 on the season. Etherington struck out seven and did not walk anyone. Emily Bosch, Sydney Johnson and Etherington also had two hits for the Raiders. Bosch scored three runs.

Game Two: 11-9 win
Down 7-2 after two innings, Northwestern scored four runs in the third and three in the fourth to grabe the lead for good. Sydney Johnson drew a bases load walk, followed by a three-run single by Jordyn Kramer in the four-run third. Erick McKenney delivered an RBI groundout, Etherington an RBI double and Johnson an RBI single in the 3-run in the fourth. Jennifer Boeve hit an RBI single, leading to a pair of insurance runs in the seventh for the Raiders. Sydnee Isom earned her second win (2-0), 2 IP, 4 hits, run. Etherington picked up her second save and escaped the sixth inning when CSM had the tying run at third with one out. Northwestern totaled 11 hits, led by Boeve who went 3-for-4 with 3 runs. Johnson and Kramer both had two hits
