Red Raider Football At Doane

The Northwestern College football team looks to extend its win streak when they travel to Crete, Neb. for a road game against Doane. Kickoff at Memorial Field is scheduled for 1pm. Winners of its last three games, Northwestern holds a 3-1 record; Doane is 2-3 on the year.

Saturday’s match-up will be the 38th between the two rivals, dating back to their first game played in 1982. Northwestern leads the all-time series 20-15-2, including a 23-3 win last year in Orange City, Iowa.

Doane was picked sixth in the GPAC preseason poll while Northwestern was picked second. The Tigers were not ranked at the end of the 2019 season, Northwestern finished 10th in the NAIA poll. (There has been no NAIA Coaches’ poll this fall). Based on the current Massey Ratings, Doane is 52nd and the Raiders are eighth.

Key Match-Ups are Northwestern’s Offense (1st in GPAC, 2nd overall) vs Doane Defense (5th in GPAC). Northwestern comes into the weekend averaging a GPAC-best 548 yards of offense, 2nd in the NAIA; the Tigers’ defense is fifth in virtually every stats category (total, scoring, rush and pass).
