Orange City, Iowa — Northwestern College has released its football schedule for the upcoming 2020 season. Northwestern finished the 2019 season with a 9-2 record and #10 ranking.
The 10-game schedule features six home dates, four away; a non-conference game to begin the season; and the standard nine-game conference slate.
Two of the 2020 opponents, #1 Morningside and (RV) Midland, were recognized in the final NAIA Coaches’ poll of the 2019 season. Red Raider opponents had a 46% (37-44) win percentage in 2019.
The 2020 schedule begins with a home game against Presentation (S.D.) on Aug. 29; the Saints play in the North Star Conference and finished the 2019 season with a 1-9 record. This will be the first ever match-up against Presentation
Following a bye on Sept. 5, Head Coach Matt McCarty’s squad will head to Sioux City for a showdown against two-time NAIA Champion Morningside on Sept. 12.
The Red Raiders will then host Dakota Wesleyan on Sept. 19 for its Homecoming game; Northwestern follows with a road game at Jamestown and comes back for a home game against Dordt on Oct. 3 prior to another bye week.
The final five weeks of the regular season feature home dates against Concordia, Midland and Briar Cliff; road games against Doane and Hastings. The NAIA Football Championship Series begins on Nov. 21.
