Richmond Spiders Previews Iowa

Richmond coach Chris Mooney says the Spiders have turned the page to Thursday’s game against Iowa.

Richmond stunned Davidson Sunday in the Atlantic-10 title game and takes the 12th seed into Thursday’s Midwest Regional game in Buffalo against the fifth seeded Hawkeyes.

Over the years there have been plenty of 12 seeds win in the opening round but Mooney says he is more focused on what it will take for his team to win.

Mooney says a key for the Spiders will be limiting turnovers and getting to loose balls.

Mooney says guarding Iowa forward Keegan Murray will be a chore.

Mooney says the Hawkeyes put a lot of pressure on their opponents with their offense.

Richmond senior guard Jacob Gilyard, the Atlantic-10 Tournament MVP, says the Spiders are confident as they get ready to play 16th ranked Iowa in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Buffalo Thursday afternoon.

Gilyard says winning the A-10 Tournament has taken their confidence to a new level.

Gilyard says the Spiders are going in with nothing to lose.
