Special Olympics Iowa To Hold Area Games At LeMars High School

Le Mars, Iowa — The Special Olympics Iowa Area Games are being held this weekend, Saturday June 12th at the Le Mars High School.

Sioux county athletes compete from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m., Sioux City West Middle athletes are from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and Sioux City Knights are from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

The Area Games will give Special Olympics Iowa athletes an opportunity to compete in an in-person sports competition for the first time since March 2020. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in the 50M dash, 100M dash, softball throw, standing long jump, and mini javelin. To help with social distancing, each team has a timeslot in which their athletes can compete.
