Northwest Iowa — The Iowa State Cross Country Meet high lighted the sports schedule for Saturday. College football was also on the docket.
2016 State Cross Country Schedule at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge
12:00 p.m. Girls’ 3A
Decorah won the team total at 102. Pella was second at 106. Spencer qualified their team for the state meet and finished 12th at 248.

12:30 p.m. Boys’ 3A
Mount Vernon-Lisbon claimed the team title at 86 followed by Grinnell at 88.

1:00 p.m. Girls’ 2A
Monticello won the team title at 93. South Winneshiek, Cal was second at 131. Okoboji finished 10th at 210. Unity was 14th with 317 team points. The winning individual time was turned in by Anna Hostetler of Mid-Prairie Wellman at 17:57.7. Sheldon’s Anessa Schoo was 56th overall with a time of 21:07.7.

1:30 p.m. Boys’ 2A
Mid-Prairie, Wellman won the team title at 98 followed by a trio of teams from the listening area that went 2,3 and 4 in the team standings. Unity was second at 115, followed by Western at 130 and George Little Rock Central Lyon at 148 to finish 4th in the state. Three area runners finished in the top ten led by Gable Sieperda of G-LR-CL who was third in the state with a time of 16:27.8. Team mate Joe Anderson was 6th in 16:38.7 and Joseph Schoonhoven of Unity who finished 9th with a time of 16:51.5. The winning time by Andrew Stumbo of Ogden was 15:53.6. Sheldon’s Dawson Jacobsma was 49th with a time of 17:41.1.

2:30 p.m. Boys’ 1A
Nodaway Valley won the team title at 36 followed by Pekin at 92. Remsen St. Mary’s was 12th in a tie breaker at 289. Trinity Christian was 15th at 334.

Central, Elkader won the team title at 69 followed by Hudson at 116.
