Strong Second Half Propels Dordt Men To Victory

The Dordt Defenders battled past a persistent Midland Warrior team to open the GPAC season with an 83-72 win in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday, November 14.

Dordt trailed by as many as five in the first half but rallied from the 20-15 deficit to lead 32-26 as Jesse Jansma knocked down a three-point basket to cap the five minute turnaround. The two teams played even for the rest of the half with the score tied 40-40 with 1:53 left in the half. Garrett Franken got a bucket to go and a Jesse Jansma steal with :13 left in the half led to a Bryce Coppock basket and Dordt led 44-40 at halftime.

The teams were tied 46-46 early in the second half but Dordt never relinquished the lead and pulled away from a 60-60 tie with 9:41 left in the game to outscore the hosts 23-12 to secure its fifth straight win.

Dordt will host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, November 18.
