Two Red Raiders earn GPAC Football Player-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – Two Northwestern College Red Raider football players were selected as Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Football Players-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Monday, Nov. 11th.

Linebacker Ben Egli of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Egli, a junior from Fort Dodge, Iowa, was one of the many leaders on defense Saturday, picking up nine tackles and an interception in Northwestern’s shutout win at Dordt. In a huge stop for the Raiders, Egli intercepted a pass at the goal line to keep Dordt off the board. Northwestern has held its opponents to seven points or less in seven games this season.

Clayton Bosma of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Bosma, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, blocked what would have been the game-tying field goal with 17 seconds on the clock to give Northwestern the win over No. 7 Dordt. Defensively, Bosma added four tackles on the day. The Red Raiders host to Briar Cliff on Saturday, November 16. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
