Van Otterloo Joins Defender Softball

Cassie Van Otterloo, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender softball program.

“We are excited about Cassie becoming a Defender!  She brings a love for the game of softball and a strong desire to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically!  Cassie will bring joy and have a positive influence on Dordt University!” said Dordt softball coach Jeff Zomer.

Van Otterloo had 17 hits last season with five doubles, a homerun and 13 runs batted in with a .370 batting average.  She earned second-team all-conference honors in 2019 and was an academic all-state accolades in volleyball and basketball.

“I chose to commit to Dordt because of the great community and the Christ-centered atmosphere. It’s a place where I can further my education in a meaningful way and be a part of a softball program that will not only allow me to expand my game but also allow me to strengthen relationships with both teammates and Christ,” said Van Otterloo.

Cassie is the daughter of Craig and Sue Van Otterloo of Rock Rapids, Iowa. She plans to study Exercise Science at Dordt.
