West Lyon Downs Sheldon Friday Night

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon hosted West Lyon as they wrapped up the Orab homecoming week. It was the Wildcats that left town with a 36-6 win.

West Lyon scored on the games first possession as they went 72 yards for the score. Hunter Jacobson went in from 15 yards out. A 2-point conversion attempt was good as Jude Moser went in to make it 8-0 with 9:18 left in the first quarter.

A fumble recovery at the Sheldon 26 set up a short field as the Wildcats scored on a 10 yard run by Moser. Jordan Van Veldhuizen kicked the extra point and it was 15-0 with 6:29 left in the first quarter.

A 62 yard pick six by Jacobson made the score 21-0 with 3:50 left in the first quarter  and a pair of 58 yard drives made the halftime score 36-0.

The first was capped by a 2 yard Tate Hawf touchdown run. Jacobson added the 2 point conversion and it was 29-0 with 9:39 left in the half.

The second drive ended on a Jaxson Meyer 5 yard run. Van Veldhuizen added the extra point to make it 36-0 with 3:37 left in the half.

Sheldon got on the board in the fourth quarter as they forced a fumble at their own 9 yard line. A 91 yard drive  came to a close on a Jacob Enger 10 yard run. The kick was no good and the final score would be 36-6 West Lyon.

With the win the Wildcats are 3-2 on the year and 2-0 in the district. Sheldon is 2-3 for the year and 1-1 in the district. Sheldon travels to Cherokee next Friday while West Lyon will host Okoboji.
