Wildcats Turn Back Orabs 21-8

west-lyon-wildcat-trackWest Lyon Iowa — Three touchdown runs by Dylan Huyser powered West Lyon to a 21-8 win over Sheldon. The first touchdown was a 1 yard run that capped a 9 play 52 yard drive. Jaden Snyder added the extra point and West Lyon was in front 7-0 with 6:13 to play in the second quarter.

At the end of the half it was Huyser on a 3 yard run to cap a 12 play 67 yard drive with :27 seconds left to play. Snyder added the extra point to give the Wildcats a 14-0 half time lead.

In the second half a strip fumble set up the Wildcats at the Sheldon 33 yard line. Huyser would finish the 3 play 33 yard drive with another 3 yard run. Snyder’s kick put West Lyon in front 21-0.

Sheldon got on the board late in the game going 86 yards in 6 plays. The drive would end with a Colby Kleinhesselink 22 yard run. Coby added the 2-point conversion and the Orab had cut the lead to 21-8 with 32 seconds left to play.

With the win West Lyon improves to 1-1 on the season. With the loss Sheldon falls to 0-2 with the district opener at   home next Friday with Okoboji coming to town. West Lyon opens district play hosting Sibley Ocheyedan.

In a pregame ceremonies the field at the West Lyon High School was named the Jay Rozeboom Sports Complex in honor of long time head coach Jay Rozeboom.
