Northwestern College football players continued to bring home preseason accolades as senior Justin Wohlert was named to the College Football America NAIA Starting Line-up as announced by the national office.
Equivalent to the preseason All-America team, the College Football America includes 936 college football teams from the United States and Canada.
Wohlert, a defensive back from Hartley, Iowa, led the NAIA with 10 interceptions in 2014, one shy of matching the conference (GPAC) record. Wohlert was named to the NAIA/AFCA All-American team and first team all-conference honors for the Red Raiders, who boasted the NAIA’s top defense last year. A three-year starter at defensive back, Wohlert totaled 30.5 tackles and broke up 23 passes.
“Justin is very deserving of this honor,” commented head coach Kyle Achterhoff. “He had an incredible junior season and is one of the best athletes in the NAIA returning for his senior season.”
