Sam Heyn

Sam Heyn grew up in Sanborn, Iowa, and graduated in the class of 2021 at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. He is currently enrolled at the University of Iowa, seeking a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. He is also a member of the Iowa Chapter at the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

Sam started his KIWA journey not too long ago, starting his internship in May of 2022. He currently is a news reporter, producer, on-air announcer in the later evening hours, and part of the Saturday Morning Tee Box Show with Mark Rector and Skip Tanner.

Outside of KIWA, Sam is working at The Daily Iowan, a student-ran newspaper in Iowa City, Iowa, where he announces in television broadcasts on news around Iowa City and the latest updates on the Iowa Hawkeyes sports teams. He also does play-by-play commentary for Fuller Digital Solutions of Cherokee, Iowa. During his pass-time, he really enjoys to get out and play golf with his friends.

Sam is in love with the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also has a side love for watching hockey.
