China purchases of U.S. commodities still lagging

IARN — China’s purchases of U.S. farm commodities still lag behind targets set in the Phase One Agreement, according to research by the Peterson Institute. Through October 2020, China’s year-to-date total imports of covered products from the United States were $75.5 billion, compared with a prorated year-to-date target of $137.3 billion. Over the same period, U.S. exports to China of covered products were $70.3 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $125.4 billion. Read more


New NCGA President, Linder, to “leave no stone unturned”

IARN — The new president of the National Corn Growers Association is dedicated to working hard for corn farmers.

Ohio farmer John Linder began his term as NCGA president last month succeeding Minden farmer Kevin Ross, who is now NCGA Chairman. In an interview as part of NAFB’s Trade Talk program, Linder told the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network he’s focusing on all of the issues that impact corn farmers throughout the US. Read more


FFA members are giving back to their communities this fall

IARN — FFA members across the country are working together to make sure their communities have the food they need during the holiday season. It is a part of the National Days of Service program through the National FFA Organization. Traditionally, members who attend the National FFA Convention and Expo participate in the National Days of Service, which gives back to the community hosting the event. Because the event was virtual this year, the National Days of Service program challenged members across the country to give back where they live. It is a part of a bigger initiative by the organization to have nationwide community engagement programs for the National Days of Service. Read more
