Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police have charged a 14-year old Sheldon juvenile with felony Forgery in connection with an incident that happened at a residence on Washington Avenue. The youth was cited into juvenile court on the charge.
Sheldon Police took a report of stolen property early Sunday evening from a residence in the 500 block of Oak Street. According to the report, the theft happened sometime on Saturday.
Authorities are also investigating a burglary that was reported Tuesday morning at the Girl Scout House in the Sheldon City Park. Cops say the incident apparently happened sometime between April 1st and April 7th.
A 16-year old Sheldon girl faces charges after crashing her SUV on South 5th Avenue in Sheldon on Friday. Police say Eliza Breuer of Sheldon was driving a 1998 GMC Envoy on South 5th Avenue, which is a gravel street, shortly after noon on Friday when she lost control and rolled the vehicle, causing her to suffer minor injuries. The Envoy sustained about $5,000 in estimated damages.
Breuer was reportedly ticketed for Reckless Driving and No Driver’s License.
Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man faces several criminal charges after being arrested in connection with a trio of burglaries that reportedly took place over the past week in Sheldon.
The Sheldon Police Department says 22-year old Andrew Burnette of Sheldon is charged with the felony of 2nd Degree Burglary after being arrested late Sunday afternoon. Police say the charge stems from three separate burglaries at the same residence on 10th Street in Sheldon over a one week period of time.
In addition, police say they charged Burnette with 5th Degree Theft, a simple misdemeanor, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Marijuana, both serious misdemeanors, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Burnette was taken to the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar following his arrest.
Sheldon, Iowa — A $350 reward is being offered for information that leads Sheldon Police to whoever damaged some vehicles.
The Sheldon Police Department is investigating two criminal mischief incidents during which suspects used a sharp instrument to scratch the paint on vehicles causing a significant amount of damage to the paint surface. They say the incidents occurred sometime on April 1 or 2, 2015 while the vehicles were parked either in the 500 block of Tenth Street or the 400 block of Ninth Street in Sheldon.
The Crime Dusters program is offering a $350 reward to anyone who provides information on this crime that leads to the arrest and conviction of the offender.

Inwood, Iowa — Three girls were injured in a crash near Inwood on Thursday, April 2nd.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:25 PM, a 14-year-old Inwood girl was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup, about three miles west of Inwood and a mile north.
The report says she was westbound on 220th Street, a half mile west of Beech Avenue, when she lost control of the vehicle going around a curve in the road. The report says the vehicle then entered the south ditch. It says the girl appeared to attempt to bring the vehicle back onto the road, at which time the vehicle rolled approximately two times, coming to rest on its top, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s report says that also in the vehicle at the time of the accident were two other girls, one of whom was thrown from the vehicle during the accident. The driver was transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. The other girls were transported to Canton/Inwood Hospital. One of them was then transferred to Sanford Sioux Falls for further tests.
The report says the vehicle was a total loss.
The deputy’s report says that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver was charged with Operating without Owner’s Consent and was cited on charges of Failure to Maintain Control and Violation of Restricted License.
Inwood Fire & Rescue crews, the Canton/Inwood Ambulance crew, and Inwood Body Shop assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on the scene.
Brunsville, Iowa — A 9-year-old, and now an 8-year-old have died as the result of an accident near Brunsville on Sunday, April 5th.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that their preliminary information says that about 8 PM, 37-year-old Shanna Boggs of Sioux City was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, eastbound on C-16, north of Brunsville. Twenty-year-old Sergio Beltran of Le Mars was driving a 2006 Ford Explorer northbound on K-42.
The report says that as the two vehicles entered the intersection they collided. Both vehicles rolled into the ditch landed on their roof tops.
The Sheriff’s Office says one of the passengers, 9-year-old Adan Perez-Antonio of Sioux City was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another child, 8-year-old Shawn Perez-Antonio was transported with life-threatening injuries by Mercy Air Care to Mercy Medical in Sioux City. The 8-year-old was later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Omaha, where he died.
Six other people were transported to Floyd Valley Hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol; Le Mars Fire Department, Police Department and Ambulance crew; the Ireton Ambulance crew, Mercy Air Care personnel and the Plymouth County Medical Examiners Office assisted the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office on the scene.
The cause and details of the accident are under investigation by the sheriff’s office, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa State Medical Examiners Office.
