Orange City Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Orange City on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The Orange City Police Department reports that about 3:25 PM, 53-year-old Gail Van Grouw of Orange City was driving a 2002 Chrysler southbound on Albany Place Southeast. Seventy-three year-old Arlene Gesink of Orange City was westbound on Highway 10 in a 2005 Chrysler.

The report says that Van Grouw failed to stop for the red traffic light at Highway 10 and struck the Gesink vehicle in the intersection.

Officer Audley De Jong took Gesink to Orange City Health System Hospital.

The Chryslers sustained $1000 in damages, each.

Van Grouw was charged with failure to obey traffic control device.


Doon Teen Injured in Accident

Lyon Sheriff Facebook HeaderRock Rapids, Iowa — A Doon teen was injured in an accident on Thursday, February 25th near Rock Rapids.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:57 AM, 19-year-old Brady Blankespoor of Doon was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 southbound on Highway 75, south of Rock Rapids. According to the report, Blankespoor lost control of his vehicle due to poor road conditions. The Ford entered the east ditch and rolled onto the driver’s side.

The Ford received $5000 damage.

Blankespoor reported minor injuries.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Doon Fire and Rescue, the Lyon County Ambulance, Dusty’s Auto Body, and Trackside Service and Towing.


Orange City Woman Injured in Accident

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 10:35 am on Thursday, 21-year-old Natalie Wheeler of Orange City was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy northbound on Jackson Avenue, five miles north of Orange City. According to the report, Wheeler lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch, and came to rest on its side.

The GMC received $1400 damage.

Wheeler reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on her own.


Two Vehicle Accident Near Sioux Center

sioux county sheriff emblemSioux Center, Iowa — Two vehicles were damaged in an accident near Sioux Center on Thursday, February 25th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 6:35 am, 23-year-old Brett Huff of Ramona, California was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass eastbound on 390th Street, two miles west of Sioux Center. Twenty-two-year-old Fausto Lopez of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on 390th Street behind Lopez. According to the report, Lopez lost control of his vehicle, struck Huff and entered the north ditch.

The Oldsmobile received $500 damage; the Impala received $2000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.


Two Vehicle Accident in Hull

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 9:00 am on Tuesday, 76-year-old Tunis Vollink of Hull was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Division Street, in Hull. Twenty-five-year-old Janet De Leon of Hull was backing a 2005 Chrysler 300 from a residential driveway onto Division Street. According to the report, while backing up, De Leon struck Vollink.

The Silverado received $1500 damage. The Chrysler received $4000 damage.

No injuries were reported.


Fender Bender In High School Parking Lot

sheldon police pd car door logoSheldon, Iowa — A car that was legally parked was struck by second vehicle in the Sheldon High School parking lot yesterday (Monday) morning about 7:30.

Sheldon Police say a 1993 Buick, driven by 17-year old Steve Garnes Collins of Sheldon, made a wide right turn while entering the parking lot, brushing the front of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Larry Towne of Hartley.

Damage to Towne’s Chevy were estimated at about $2,100, while damage to the Buick driven by Garnes Collins was estimated at about $750.

No injures were reported.
