Orange City Woman Hits Dog

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookSioux Center, Iowa — An Orange City woman’s vehicle was damaged after she struck a dog on the roadway near Sioux Center on Wednesday, July 6th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 10:50 pm, 29-year-old Emily Te Velde of Orange City was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring northbound on Hickory Avenue, one mile east of Sioux Center. According to the report, Te Velde struck a dog on the roadway.

The Chrysler received $3,500 damage.

No injuries were reported.


Rock Valley Teen Injured in Collision

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookRock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley teen was injured after her vehicle struck a cement truck near Rock Valley on Tuesday, July 5th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 2:20 pm on Tuesday, 29-year-old Joel Koedam of Lester was driving a 2003 Peterbilt cement truck westbound on 300th street, three miles northwest of Rock Valley. Sixteen-year-old Katlien VanderWeide of Rock Valley was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor southbound on Dogwood Avenue. According to the report, the two met in the intersection where the accident happened.

The Peterbilt received $3,000 damage. The Mitsubishi received $6,000 damage.

VanderWeide reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on her own.


Akron Man Escapes Injury When Vehicle Hits Tree

sioux county sheriff emblemHawarden, Iowa — An Akron man struck a tree near Hawarden on Sunday, July 3rd.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 11:03 am on Sunday, 27-year-old James Scott was driving a 2008 Kia Sorento northbound near the exit of the Deer Run Campground area. According to the report, Scott became distracted by a falling object inside of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The Kia received $6000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sioux County Conservation.


Three Injured in Hawarden Accident

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookHawarden, Iowa — Three people were injured in an accident on Saturday, July 2nd near Hawarden.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 4:20 pm on Saturday, 19-year-old Shayla Bushby of Hawarden was driving a 2003 Mercury Sable northbound on Cherry Avenue, three miles northeast of Hawarden. Thirty-nine-year-old Aaron Rochholz of Council Bluffs was driving a 2013 Hyundai Accent eastbound on 420th Street. According to the report, Rochholz stopped for the stop sign at Cherry Avenue, began crossing Cherry Avenue and was struck by Bushby in the intersection.

The Mercury received $7000 damage. The Hyundai received $14,000 damage.

Bushby was transported by private vehicle to the Hawarden Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Rochholz and a passenger reported minor injuries and refused further medical treatment.


No Injuries When Semis Collide In Boyden

sioux sheriff emblem side of carBoyden, Iowa — No injuries were reported when two semis collided in Boyden Wednesday evening, June 29th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year old Brian Lamfers, of Sioux Center, was backing a 2004 Freightliner semi‐truck pulling a grain trailer southbound on Lincoln Street. 48-year old David Phillips, of Ashton, was driving a 2013 Freightliner pulling a grain trailer westbound on Railroad Street.

Deputies say Lamfers backed across Railroad Street and struck Phillips. No injuries were reported.

Lamfers’ 2004 Freightliner sustained approximately $1,500 in damage, while damage to Phillips’ 2013 Freightliner sustained approximately $5,000 in damage, according to authorities.


Two Vehicle Collision Near Ireton

sioux county sheriff emblemIreton, Iowa — A semi and pickup were damaged in a collision near Ireton on Tuesday, June 28th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 2:09 pm on Tuesday, 53-year-old Bobby Chapman of Amarillo, Texas was driving a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup eastbound on Highway 10, two miles northwest of Ireton. Fifty-five-year-old John Anderson of Hawarden was driving a 2014 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a side dump trailer westbound on Highway 10. According to the report, Chapman began turn left onto Dogwood Avenue and was struck by Anderson.

The Kenworth received $10,000 damage; the Dodge received $20,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
