Boyden Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Matlock, Iowa– A Boyden woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Matlock.Ambulance Front Generic

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 10:37 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2016, 68-year-old Carman Van Beek of Boyden was driving a 2007 Ford westbound on B14, three quarters of a mile west of Matlock.

The report indicates that the driver says that she either blacked out or fell asleep. She regained consciousness just before her vehicle entered the south ditch. Her vehicle went down into the ditch, struck a few small embankments and stopped just east of a large creek.

The Boyden Ambulance took Van Beek to Sioux Center Health Hospital. Van Beek’s Ford sustained $2000 in damages.

She was charged with failure to maintain control.


Two Injured In Hull Area Accident

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookHull, Iowa — A Hull teen and her passenger were injured in an accident near Hull on Wednesday, August 10th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 11:13 am on Wednesday, 16-year-old Joanne Luevano of Hull was driving a 2000 Honda Accord southbound on Ibex Avenue, three miles north of Hull. According to the report, Luevano lost control of her vehicle, entered the west ditch, struck a field driveway and a culvert.

The Honda received $4,000 damage.

Luevano reported minor injuries, but refused further medical attention. An unnamed passenger in the vehicle also reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on their own.


Orange City Teen Strikes Field Driveway

Sioux Sheriff Car 84-Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen escaped injury after striking a field driveway on Saturday, August 6th near Orange City.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 10:12 pm on Saturday, 19-year-old Aaron Rohrer of Orange City was driving a 2006 Honda Accord southbound on Jay Avenue, one-half mile south of Orange City. According to the report, Rohrer lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch, and struck a field driveway.

The Honda received $10,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Boyden Ambulance and Boyden Fire Department.


Two Arrested For Identity Theft, Forgery

Sioux Co JailOrange City, Iowa — A nearly month-long investigation has led to the arrest of two individuals on charges of Identity Theft and Forgery.

Orange City Police say that, on July 15th, they received a report of two people working at Smithfield Foods in Orange City, under false names.  Police say that, during their investigation, it was discovered that Gladys Rodriguez, and Manuel Pelico De Leon were allegedly using another person’s identity to gain employment at Smithfield Foods.

Upon completion of their investigation, Orange City Police say that on Monday (August 8th) they arrested both Gladys Rodriguez, and Manuel Pelico De Leon.  Police say both individuals were charged with Identity Theft and Forgery.  Both charges are Class D Felonies, with each carrying a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison, and a fine up to $7,500.

At last report, both Rodriguez and De Leon were housed in the Sioux County Jail, with no bond set.


Woman Injured After Vehicle Rolls

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookAlton, Iowa — An Orange City woman was injured in an accident near Alton in the late night hours of Saturday, August 6th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 11:23 pm on Saturday, 22-year-old Latasha Dau of Orange City was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus northbound on Kiwi Avenue, five miles southeast of Alton. According to the report, Dau lost control of her vehicle, entered the west ditch and rolled.

The Ford received $4,000 damage.

Dau reported minor injuries and decline further medical attention.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department and Remsen Police Department.


Vehicle Rolls After Collision Near Rock Rapids

Lyon Sheriff Facebook HeaderRock Rapids, Iowa — Two vehicles were damaged after a collision at an intersection near Rock Rapids in the morning hours of Saturday, August 6th.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:15 am on Saturday, 64-year-old Jerry Caswell of Rock Rapids was driving a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer westbound on Highway 9 and attempting to make a right turn onto Fir Avenue, west of Rock Rapids. Thirty-six-year-old Karen Stiltz of Rock Rapids was driving 2006 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 9 behind Caswell. According to the report, Stiltz struck Caswell from behind and after Stiltz’s vehicle contacted Caswell’s vehicle, it rolled over onto its top.

The Trailblazer received $5,000 damage. The Honda received $4,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
