Orange City Teen Arrested, Charged With Drug Offenses

Andrew HemmelmanOrange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen was arrested on drug charges after an investigation.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday evening (3/28), their office and the Orange City Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Second Street Northwest and Colorado Avenue in Orange
City.

The traffic stop stemmed from an ongoing joint investigation between the two agencies.

As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Andrew Hemmelman of Orange City was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance to a minor, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.


Rock Valley Man Charged With Animal Negligence

BolksRock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was arrested and charged with animal negligence after an investigation by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Officials report that the investigation into the incident began on Saturday, March 23. That afternoon, deputies investigated a report of animal negligence that occurred at a residence southeast of Rock Valley.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that 80-year-old Harvey Bolks of Rock Valley allegedly illegally disposed of animals that belonged to another person.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, March 28, Bolks was arrested and charged with three counts of animal negligence.


Rock Rapids Teen Arrested On Warrant At RTF In Sheldon

RTFSheldon, Iowa — A Rock Rapids teen has been arrested at the RTF on a warrant.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 19-year-old Cole Michael Viereck of Rock Rapids on Thursday (3/28) at the Residential Treatment Facility in Sheldon.

Viereck had an active Lyon County arrest warrant for Violation of Probation. He is currently being held in the Lyon County Jail with no bond.


Two Taken To Hospital After Thursday Night Accident North Of Rock Rapids

Lyon County Ambulance 60-A3 smRock Rapids, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident near Rock Rapids last night (3/28).

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:35 PM, 19-year-old Rykker Harr of Rock Rapids was driving a 2013 Volkswagon Beetle north bound on Harding Boulevard, north of Rock Rapids, when he swerved to miss a deer.

The Volkswagon went into the east ditch and then ramped the ditch of Hark Boulevard. The vehicle then landed in the north ditch, went into some bushes, ramped up and hit a couple of trees and rolled. It came to a rest in the east ditch of Harding Avenue.

The Lyon County Ambulance took both occupants to Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital.

Harr’s grandfather, Rickie Niessink is the owner of the Volkswagon Bug which received $12,000 in damage.

The Iowa State Patrol and Rock Rapids Fire and Rescue assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.


Sheldon Police Charge Arrest One, Cite Another In Separate Incidents

Sheldon PD carSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Police report a pair of recent apprehensions.

The police report that they arrested 44-year-old Kathleen Daniels of Hartley at Casey’s north location in Sheldon on Tuesday (3/26). She was arrested on an O’Brien County Warrant for an original charge of Fifth Degree Theft. She was taken into custody and transported to jail.

They also report that they cited 53-year-old Vicki Kincer on Tuesday (3/26) for Dog At Large. She was not arrested, but was cited and released.


Two Rock Rapids Men Arrested In Separate Incidents

Jail Door2Rock Rapids, Iowa — Two Rock Rapids men have been arrested in two separate incidents, both on Tuesday (3/26).

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department reports that 21-year-old Derek Allen Harr of Rock Rapids was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office in Rock Rapids on a warrant that was issued for Failure to Appear, a serious misdemeanor. He was booked into the Lyon County Jail. The original charge was Driving While Intoxicated. According to court records, he was released on a signature bond.

The Sheriff’s Office also reports that 29-year-old Aaron Michael Van Kley of Rock Rapids was arrested south of Rock Rapids for driving while suspended, a simple misdemeanor. He was also booked into the Lyon County Jail. Court records indicate he posted a cash bond, and was released.
