Two Vehicle Accident In Orange City

orange city alton police oc pd ocpdOrange City, Iowa — Two vehicles were damaged in an accident in Orange City on Friday, August 7th.

According to the Orange City Police Department at about 10:10 am, 39-year-old Rebecca Huizenga was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on 8th Street southeast in Orange City and stopped at the stoplight intersection of Albany Avenue southeast and 8th Street. Seventy-four-year-old Marlene Winterfeld of Le Mars was driving a 2009 Ford Escape eastbound on 8th Street southeast behind Huizenga. According to the report, Winterfeld said she fell asleep and rear ended Huizenga’s Suburban.

The Suburban received $2000 damage. Winterfeld’s Escape received $8000 damage.

No injuries were reported.


Jeep and Livestock Trailer Damaged In Accident

Osceola Sheriff Car 72-2Osceola County, Iowa — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident on Wednesday, August 5th.

According to the Osceola Sheriff’s Office, at about 12:30 pm on Wednesday, 34-year-old Kyle Marcus was driving a 2002 Peterbilt Conventional Semi southbound on Highway 59 hauling a livestock trailer owned by Marcus Farms Trucking of Marcus, Iowa. An unknown driver was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty, owned by Carlos Larreynaga Quintero of Worthington, was northbound on Highway 59. The report states that the Jeep crossed the center line and hit the livestock trailer then came to rest in a bean field on the west side of the highway. The driver of the Jeep left the scene.

The livestock trailer received $20,000 damage. The Jeep received $5000 damage.

No injuries were reported.


Sheldon Woman Hits Parked Vehicle

sioux county sheriff emblemBoyden, Iowa — A Sheldon woman hit a parked vehicle in Boyden on Wednesday, August 5th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 2:33 pm, 28-year-old Shana Johnson of Sheldon was backing a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup from a diagonal parking space on Main Street in Boyden. According to the report, She struck a parked and unattended 2010 Ford F150 owned by Travis Klein of Sheldon.

The Dodge received $3000 damage; The Ford received $300 damage.

No injuries were reported


Matlock Teen Arrested On Felony Theft Charge

Sheldon, Iowa — A Matlock teen has been arrested on felony second degree theft charges after the Sheldon Police Department says she wrote checks on a closed account.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that they arrested 19-year-old Lacey O’Clair of Matlock recently. The police allege that O’Clair has written multiple checks in multiple towns on her closed account. They say the incidents are being investigated by several law enforcement agencies. They report they also picked her up on a third degree theft charge out of Osceola County.

O’Clair was taken into custody and was transported to jail in Primghar, where she was released that same afternoon after posting bail.


South Dakota Man Hits Deer

deer_sxc2Hull, Iowa — A South Dakota man’s vehicle was damaged after hitting deer near Hull on Tuesday, August 4th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:17 am, 54-year-old Dana Oas was driving a 2013 Lexus GS350 southbound on Highway 75, three and a half miles northwest of Hull. According to the report, he struck a deer on the roadway.

The Lexus received $5000 damage.

No injuries were reported.


Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Boyden on Friday, July 31.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 4 PM, 39-year-old Lynn Wichers of Boyden was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Jackson Avenue, five miles southwest of Boyden. They report that 19-year-old Felicity Bootsma of Sanborn was driving a 2006 Ford 500 eastbound on 330th Street.

The accident report says Bootsma drove into the intersection at Jackson Avenue and struck the Wichers Camaro.

Wichers was transported by private vehicle to the Orange City Health System Hospital.

The Camaro sustained about $10,000 in damages. The Ford sustained about $5,000 in damages.

Bootsma was cited failing to obey a stop sign.
