Jacqueline Detrick age 16 of Paullina was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on the gravel road near 5220 420th Street on Tuesday, March 27, about 7:45 PM. Detrick lost control on the loose gravel and began to swerve and ended up going into the north ditch. The vehicle then flipped over onto its top. No injuries were reported.
Detrick was wearing a seatbelt.
Estimated damage to the vehicle was $6,000..
A Doon man has been arrested on an obscene material charge.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports their officers executed a search warrant at the apartments located at 402 North 1st Street in Doon on Monday (3/26). Twenty-three-year-old Brandon Sneller lives there.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that Sneller was arrested and charged with Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a minor, an aggravated misdemeanor.
The charge came as a result of an obscene text message Sneller allegedly sent to an underage female. He was released on bond.
A Minneapolis woman was charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop near Sheldon on Friday (3/23).
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that one of their deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 60, two miles north of Sheldon on a traffic violation.
Upon further investigation the deputy seized drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana from 29-year-old Erin W Belfrey of Minneapolis, MN.
Belfrey was transported to the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar for booking and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. She was later released after posting a $1,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
A Primghar man was arrested on Sunday (3/25) on an assault charge.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that they received a 911 call of an assault in rural Primghar.
An O’Brien County Deputy arrested 23-year-old Michael J. Nodskov of rural Primghar on a charge of Simple Assault, a simple misdemeanor. Nodskov allegedly assaulted another person at the same address.
Nodskov was held overnight in the O’Brien County Jail and plead guilty before the County Magistrate.
He was released a short time later.
A second teen has been charged in the case of vandalism that occurred in Rock Rapids and a theft from the Rock Rapids Pizza Ranch.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 18-year-old Louis Reuvers of Rock Rapids. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, and Theft in the Fourth Degree, a Serious Misdemeanor.
Reuvers’ initial appearance is scheduled for Friday March 30,2012
The other teen charged in connection with the crime is 18-year-old Jared Gerloff of Rock Rapids. He is charged with the same charges as Reuvers
Authorities allege Reuvers and Gerloff are responsible for a rash of vandalism of eleven vehicles in Rock Rapids and a theft of a television from the Rock Rapids Pizza Ranch.
An Ocheyedan woman will serve a little jail time, some probation, and pay a fine after she pled guilty to marijuana possession.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that 48-year-old Jacqueline Louise Ackerman of Ocheyedan pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor. Ackerman is to pay a fine of over $1000, court costs, and restitution of any court-appointed attorney fees. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all time suspended except for two days. Plus Ackerman will also serve two years’ probation.
On November 10, 2011, the Osceola County Sheriff’s office assisted the Department of Human Services on a consent search of Jacqueline Ackerman’s residence. An Osceola County Deputy located marijuana plant material in Ackerman’s bedroom.
