Grace L. Stofferan

Stofferan, GraceGrace L. Stofferan, age 93, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa.

Her service will be 2:00pm Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa with Pastor John Byrd – officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa

Grace L. Stofferan, the daughter of Sylvan and Pauline (Earlick) Powers was born on March 9, 1920 in Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education from Sheldon schools. On September 24, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Stofferan on a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple lived in the Sheldon and Hospers, Iowa area where the couple farmed. Grace also was a cook for the MOC Floyd Valley School District and for Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa. The couple later moved to Primghar. After Lawrence passed away in December of 1996, Grace moved to Sheldon until moving into Prairie View Home in Sanborn where she passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 reaching the age of 93 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Grace enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, shopping, going to garage sales and spending time with her grandchildren.

Grace is survived by her three children, Myrna Swan of Vergas, Minnesota, Lowell and his wife Nancy Stofferan of Loveland, Colorado and Betty and her husband James Van Der Sloot of Sheldon, Iowa; a daughter in law, Sharon and her husband Warren Wilson of Storm Lake, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Richard and Wayne; son in law Gale Swan; one sister Geraldine Anderson and three infant sisters.

Roger Silvis 3Roger Silvis, age 80, of Bigelow, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his home in Bigelow.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, Minnesota. Rev. Erwin Van Leuwen and Rev. Ron Lammers officiating.

Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in rural Worthington. Visitation will be Sunday, June 23 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. with the family present from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkview Assembly of God Church in Sheldon, IA with Rev. Ken Snyder officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, IA.

Ardith (Larsen) Carlson

Ardith (Larsen) Carlson age 88 of Sibley, IA died Sunday June 16, 2013 at her home in Sibley, IA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m.Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, with Pastor Doug Noonkester officiating.  Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church in Sibley.

Charlee Ann Emerick

Charlee Ann Emerick, 2 month old daughter of John and Amy Emerick, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Gilbert Vollink

87 year old Gilbert Vollink of Archer passed away at his home on Wednesday June 12, 2013.

Funeral services will be Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 10:00am at the Archer Reformed Church at 210 Locust St. in Archer, IA.

Visitation will be Monday, June 17, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Archer Reformed Church in Archer. The family will be present at the church for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening.
