Jackie Minten

Jackie Minten, 91 years old, of Alton, IA, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, At Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder and Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.

Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.

Jackie was born Nov. 16, 1922, at Orange City, IA, the daughter of Henry & Gertrude (Timmer) Den Hartog. She was raised and educated in Orange City. She attended Orange City Christian School and Orange City Public School graduating in 1940.

On Nov. 28, 1940 she married Robert Minten at Sioux City, IA. The couple then made their home in Alton. In 1948 they moved to a farm south of Alton. They moved back into Alton in 1972 and continued farming for several years. Robert died Dec. 7, 2001.

Jackie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Rosary Society and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. During her life she was an avid bowler and golfer. She loved to read and work in the library. She was a very talented artist and loved to do arts and crafts of al kinds. Her goal in life was always to help other people. She was a very special person and will be very deeply missed.

Survivors include: her two sons, Darrell (Marilyn) Minten of Reno, NV, Ron (Joann) Minten of Alton; five daughters, Sherron (Richard) Kriege of Skiatook, OK, Bev (Larry) Hanno of LeMars, IA, Marilyn Nunn of Alton, IA, Barb (Mark) Noteboom of Orange City, IA, Dawn (Dave) Welch of North Sioux City, SD; 15 grandchildren, 25 Great-grandchildren;

Preceded by: her parents, all of her siblings and all of her in Laws.


Mr. Hilbert Bloemendaal

Mr. Hilbert Bloemendaal, age 102, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, May 6, at 2:00pm, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Aldon Kuiper and the Rev. Paul Bakker will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service on Monday, at 1:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the funeral home.


Ann Post

Mrs. Ann Post, age 91 of Sanborn, passed away at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center on Thursday, May 2nd.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn. Pastor Gary Hegstad will be officiating.

Visitation will be at the Sanborn Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The family will be present at that time.

The Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Ann Post of Sanborn.


Arnold L. Heidebrink

Arnold L. Heidebrink, age 81 of Little Rock, IA died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 4, 2013 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Rev. Michael Weaver and Rev. David Vander Laan officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock.

Visitation will be Friday, May 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.

The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is in charge of the arrangements for 81 year old Arnold Heidebrink of Little Rock.

Beverly Jean Moeller, age 86 of Turlock, CA, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, CA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 6th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
