Kathryn Timmermann

Kathryn Timmermann, age 95 of Fort Dodge, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA died Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Bickford Assisted Living in Fort Dodge, IA.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Pastor Judith Johnson officiating.  Burial will take place prior to the memorial service in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements.

Kathryn was born on January 28, 1918, the daughter of Claus (Nick) and Jennie (Paterni) Fisher of Little Rock, IA. She was united in marriage to John M. Timmermann on December 19, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Viola Township. They farmed northwest of Sibley until 1955 when they moved to Sibley, IA. Kathryn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Kathryn worked at the Sibley Ben Franklin store and then at Merrick Printing. She clerked auction sales with T&K Sales. In October of 2009 they moved to Bickford Assisted Living in Fort Dodge, IA. Kathryn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her special treasures.

Kathryn is survived by one daughter, Karen (Rodney) Reitsma of Fort Dodge, IA; one son, Dennis (Jan) Timmermann of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, Susan (Paul) Sorlien of Dakota City, IA, Kathy Reitsma of Ames, IA, Sandie Reitsma of Fort Dodge, IA, Randy (Deb) Reitsma of West Des Moines, IA, Leslie (Al) Penning of Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin (Kerrie) Totman of Dakota City, NE, Michele (Chad) Haeder of Sioux Falls, SD, and Erik ( Netta) Totman of South Sioux City, NE; twelve great grandchildren, Brittney and Matthew Penning, Mindy, Kristen, and Nathan Sorlien, Dyani Collins, Jordyn and Dawson Haeder, Macy Andresen, Brandon, Ahren and Taryn Reitsma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, John; her daughter, Carol Totman; three brothers: and three sisters.

Vincent L. Schleusner Jr

Vincent L. Schleusner Jr., age 76 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, October 11th, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Father Bruce Lawler as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10th, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. There will be a Celebration of Life Vigil at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.


Marianne Wassenaar

Mrs. Marianne Wassenaar, age 57, of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, October 11, at 10:30 am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will follow at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton.

Visitation will be after 4:00 pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, which is in charge of the arrangements for Marianne Wassenaar.


Michael Davids

Michael DavidsMichael Davids, age 50, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his home in Sibley.
Michael is the husband of Cristee Davids and father of Michael J. Davids, Matthew G. Davids and Caige C. Davids, all of Sibley, Iowa.
Michael Allen Davids was born on February 6, 1963 in San Rafael, California. He is the son of John and Dianna Sue (Campbell) Davids. He lived his youth and attended school in El Cajon, California, raised by his mom, Diana and his grandmother, Ella Campbell, to be a man with God in his heart. Mike worked as a landscaper in his teen and young adult years.
He was united in marriage to Cristee Vargas of San Jose, California, on August 8, 1988, in California. Mike was employed putting up chain-link fence for five years in San Jose. They moved to El Cajon, California with their son, Michael, where Mike worked at a factory as a machine operator. In 1997, Matthew was born and the family moved to Sibley, Iowa, where Mike worked as a machine operator for ten years. In 2001, Caige was born. They continued to live in Sibley.
Mike loved to tinker and enjoyed learning and figuring out how mechanical things worked. He could fix almost anything. He enjoyed teaching and watching his boys learn how to fix their bike and change tires.
Mike enjoyed making people laugh. He was a loving, compassionate man and a good father to his boys. He loved his boys with all his heart. He was devoted to his wife and best friend. They spent 25 years together, during great times, good times, hard times, bad times and sad times. He will be missed very much by his wife. They were, are, and always will be, devoted to each other. Mike said from day one, they were always meant to be together.
He was Mike to everyone, Mikey only to Cristee, and Papa to only three.
Michael’s body was cremated and no Memorial Services are planned at this time.


Clarice Meyer

ClariceClarice Meyer, age 101 of Hartley, IA, passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley on Thursday, October 3, 2013.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.  Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. prior to the service on Monday at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, IA.

Visitation, with the family present, will be Sunday, October 6th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel in Hartley.

The Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for 101 year-old Clarice Meyer of Hartley, IA.

Duane MoserA funeral service for 75 year old Duane Moser of Spirit Lake, will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, October 4, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake.

Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the Schuchert Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Duane’s name.
