Jerome “Ome” F. Klein

Klein, JeromeJerome F. Klein, age 80, of Sheldon and formerly of Hospers, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

His services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Fr. Allan A. Reicks ~ officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Hospers, Iowa with flag presentation by the Hospers American Legion Reuter Post #423.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013 after 4:00 P.M. with the Family present from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7:00 P.M. with a Parish Rosary to follow.

Jerome “Ome” Frank Klein was born on October 28, 1932 in Hospers, Iowa to Peter and Mithilda (Robinet) Klein. He received his education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Hospers, Iowa. After finishing school he lived with his parents and helped them with the farming, he also worked for Joe Pohlen until 1954. In 1956, he joined the United States Army and served 1 year in Germany. After his discharge from the service Ome returned home and worked for local farmers. On June 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Rita Graff at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers, Iowa. Jerome started to farm on his own in 1959 until 1969, when he went to work for Packerland. He worked there until his retirement in 1998. But then worked for B&B Poultry in Hospers until 2009 when he fully retired due to his health. Jerome passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa, reaching the age of 80 years, 10 months and 10 days.

Ome was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed Flea Marketing and watching Animal Planet on TV. He loved all animals especially his cats and his dog, Lexie.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita of Sheldon; and their children, Karen (Allen) Reekers of Alton, IA; Rick (Lisa) Klein of Sheldon, IA; Terry (Judy) Klein of Sheldon, IA; Gregg (Gloria) Klein of Albuquerque, NM; Todd Klein of Burlington, IA; Ted Klein of Sheldon, IA; Mick (Kim) Klein of Ashton, IA; Gayla (Jim) Clark of Sheldon, IA; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchild, a brother, Jerry Klein of Hospers, IA; two sisters, Rosella (Gerald) Croatt of Sioux Center, IA; Esther Goergen of Sanborn, IA and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ome was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arnold Klein and a brother, Raymon in infancy; two sisters, Francis Schnurr and a sister, Savina in infancy, a sister-in-law, Margaret Klein, and three brothers-in-law, Ray Schnurr, Melvin Plathe and Leo Goergen.

DorothyDorothy F. Imhoff, age 89 of Sheldon and formerly of Ashton, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the George Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa.

The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa with Fr. John Vakulskas Jr. ~ officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.

Visitation will be after 3:00pm Monday, September 9, 2013 with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa. A Rosary will be prayed by the CDofA at 4:00pm with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00pm all at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home ~ Sheldon.

Dorothy Florence Imhoff was born on June 5, 1924 in Ashton, Iowa to Louis and Anna (Seivert) Winchell. She was the youngest of 10 children. She received her education through high school at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Ashton, Iowa graduating in 1942. After high school, Dorothy worked as a waitress at Tom Breneman’s Breakfast on the famous corner, of Sunset and Vine in Hollywood, California. On February 20, 1950 she was united in marriage to Clarence Imhoff at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa. They lived their married life in Ashton and to this union seven children were born. Her husband, Clarence preceded her in death on February 3, 1972. Dorothy remained in her home until 2005 when she moved into the Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 the George Community Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa, reaching the age of 89 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of CDofA all in Ashton. She was known for her good cooking and hospitality. She enjoyed spending time with her children, playing 500 and Gin Rummy, gardening, especially selling sweet corn and doing her yard work.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, four daughters and two sons; Rosanne (Scott) Robertson of Lake Park, Iowa; Mary (Jerry) Freeman of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Robert (Karla) Imhoff of Ashton, Iowa; Keith (Valerie) Imhoff of Ventura, Iowa; Karen (Rick) Richter of Primghar, Iowa; Karla (Leland) Van Meeteren of Boyden, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, a sister-in-law, Louise Winchell of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Albert (Dick) Imhoff of Spirit Lake, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a son, Steven; her parents, two sisters and seven brothers.

Donald W. Saville, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.

His service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Sheldon United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Kevin Gingerich ~ officiating. Burial will be at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa with flag presentation by the Sheldon American Legion McGlothlen-Cowie Post #145.

Visitation will be after 3 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 with family present from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.

Donald Wayne Saville, the son of George A. and Verna E. (Plumhoff) Saville was born April 10, 1929 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He received his education and graduated from high school in Sioux Falls. He entered the Army on July 24, 1947 serving in Korea before his discharge on June 30, 1949. After his discharge he worked for Central Telephone Company in LeMars, Iowa. On June 9, 1952 he started working for the Iowa Public Service in LeMars, Iowa. On December 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Bergman in Little Rock, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled in LeMars and later transferred to Sheldon in 1955. Don worked for Iowa Public Service, Midwest Power and now known as Mid-American Energy, first as a lineman and later a foreman for a total of 39 years retiring on May 1, 1991. In 1961 the couple built a new home in Sheldon where they have enjoyed many years including their retirement years. Don passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Sanford Health Center Senior Care reaching the age of 84 years, 4 months and 23 days.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Sheldon and enjoyed helping at the church. He looked forward to spending time with his family and enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Hardees in Sheldon. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing cards, feeding the birds and squirrels and reading books.

Don leaves to cherish his many memories, his wife of almost 60 years Kathryn of Sheldon, a daughter, Mary and her husband, Warren Wallinga of Sheldon; two sons, Steven and his wife, Cindee Saville of Oelwein, Iowa and Jeffrey and his wife, Dee Dee Saville of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, Michael, Derek, Cody, Shannon, Joshua and Zachary; a sister, Beverly Moore of Prospect Heights, Illinois also other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, a sister-in-law, Elsie Heeren and two brothers-in-law, Cecil and John Bergman.
