Mr. Donald Pluim, age 78, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at his residence.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, February 5, at 10:00am, at the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull.  The Rev. Todd Zuidema will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Visitation will be after 5:00 pm on Monday, with the family present from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the church.  Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.


Mrs. Phyllis Raman

Mrs. Phyllis Raman, age 85, of Hull, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at her residence.

There will be a funeral service on Monday, February 4, at 2:00pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull.  The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.  Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.


Daryl “Mike” Burley

Daryl “Mike” Burley, age 92 of Hartley, IA, passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, IA, on Friday, February 1, 2013.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9th at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church Hartley, with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8th with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, IA at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hartley Funeral Home in Hartley is in charge of the arrangements for 92 year-old Daryl “Mike” Burley of Hartley, IA.

Eslyn Grooters, age 97 of Sanborn, IA died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, IA.

Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 5th at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn, IA, with Rev. Thomas A. Connors officiating. Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn.

Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Betty M. Streff, 55 years old, of Alton, IA, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, At Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.

Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013. The family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 6 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.

Betty was born April 14, 1957, at LeMars, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Phyllis (Krier) Streff. She was raised in Alton on the family farm & attended Sioux Center Community Special Education in Sioux Center, IA and Hope Haven in Rock Valley, IA. In 1990 she moved to Village North West in Sheldon where she excelled in her social living in a community waiver home and working at the North West Enterprises. She moved to Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen in May of 2010.

Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Betty was a devoted and loving daughter, a loyal fun loving sister and a special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She loved to dance, roller skate and bowl. She also loved purses and Mountain Dew. Betty lived and loved life with zest and touched many hearts. She will be in ours forever.

Survivors include: four sisters & their husbands, Mary Ann and Dale Jobe of Neosho, MO, Patti and Ed Walsh of Sioux City, IA, Jane and Wayne Horkey of Alton, IA, and Bev and Marc Thoene of Alton, IA; one brother-in-law, Bill Schroeder and his wife Janys of Kingsley, IA; numerous nieces & nephews.

Preceded by: her parents, a sister, Marge Schroeder, and a niece, Anna Thoene.
Casket Bearers will be, Greg & Adam Schroeder, Mike & Luke Horkey, Britton Jobe, Jamie Worrell.
