Lubbert Niessink, age 93 of Rock Rapids, IA passed away January 28, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

Services will be held in the spring and will be announced at a later date.

 


Tillie Tensen

Mrs. Matilda Tensen, age 96, of Hull, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull   The Rev. Harlan De Jong and the Rev. Douglas Tensen will officiate.  Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.  There will be a prayer service on Saturday, at 9:45am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.


Art Vos

Art Vos, age 94, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa.

His services will be 11:00am Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa with the Rev. Dale Lint ~ officiating. A Private Graveside Service will be held in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 with the Family present from 9:00 – 10:00am at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.

Arthur Vos was born in Boyden, Iowa on July 9, 1918 to William and Mina (Tott) Vos. He graduated from Boyden High School and married Ruth Van Houte on June 29, 1940 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They lived for a time in San Diego, California, then to Mora, Minnesota, Sheldon, Sibley and Rock Rapids, Iowa. Art was a brick layer and a lifetime member of SDADC (Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple returned to Sheldon and remained there for the last 31 years. Ruth preceded him in death on June 18, 2006. Two years after her death Art moved into Fieldcrest Assisted Living where he passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 reaching the age of 94 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Art enjoyed visiting with his many friends, playing cards and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Sue and her husband, Wayne Kooiker of Orange City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Mary and her husband, John Tobin of Yorba Linda, California, Bruce and his wife, Linda Larsen of Cedar, Minnesota, Chris Larsen and his fiancé, Tracy Coelho of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Carol and her husband, Pip Fisher of Granger, Iowa and Will and his wife, Heather Kooiker of Colonial Heights, Virginia; five great grandchildren, Kristen Tobin, Jeffrey and his wife, Tara Kaye Tobin, Aubrie and Easton Kooiker and Lincoln Fisher; one great-great granddaughter, Aubree Tobin; and many nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth of 64 years, his parents, a daughter, Bonnie Larsen, sister, Caroline Jacobsma and brother, Billy Vos.


Alvin J. Full

Alvin J. Full, 85 years old, of Alton, IA,died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Orange City Area Health System Hospital in Orange City.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Terry Roder officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.  Graveside military honors will be conducted by Floyd Post 200 American Legion.  Visitation will be any time after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2012.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

Alvin was born Oct. 27, 1927, at Taunton, MN, the son of Arthur and Clara (Bunkers) Full.  In March of 1928 he moved with his family to near Granville where he received his primary education at St. JosephCatholicSchool in Granville.  In 1942 they moved to near Alton where he received his secondary education at St. Mary’s Academy in Alton from which he graduated in 1945.  He was engaged in farming with his father.  On April 24, 1951, he entered the US Army, serving during the Korean War, being discharged April 8, 1953.  He then returned to Alton and farming.

On Aug. 23, 1954, he married Delores Berding at Marcus, IA.  They made their home near Alton where they farmed until retiring and moving into Alton in 1988.

Alvin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Floyd Post 200 American Legion.  Past member of St. Mary’s Church Board, Spalding School Board and Alton Co-op Elevator Board.

Survivors include: his wife, Delores of Alton; two daughters, Kathy (Pat) Beck of Spencer, IA, Christy (Harold) Harson of Everly, IA; four sons, Steve (Nancy) of Norfolk, NE, Tony (Kris), Jerry (Nichole) all of Alton, Dan (Diane) of Royal, IA; 20) grandchildren; 14) great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Reichle of Alton, Jane (David) Croatt of Sibley, IA; three sisters-in-law, Alberta Full of Canby, MN, Charlene Full of Owatonna, MN, Lana Full of Stewartstown, PA.

Preceded by: his parents, five brothers, Ferdinand, Raymond, Jim, Mark and Art, one sister, Barbara Langenhorst.

Casket Bearers will be Matt Beck, Eric Full, Jason Full, Brian Christianson, Riley Full, Austin Full, Brandon Full.


Alma Van Kley

Alma Van Kley, age 85 of Sibley, IA died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, January 28th at First Reformed Church in Sibley, IA, with Reverend Bruce Wilterdink officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 27th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the First Reformed Church in Sibley.

Emma Knobloch

Emma KnoblochEmma Knobloch, age 97 of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Rock Rapids, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday Jan. 26th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 25th with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Lester.

Emma Friedricka Knobloch was born August 27, 1915 at the family farm near Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of Dietrich and Julia (Koch) Knobloch. She attended Cleveland Township School through the 8th grade. After her education she did domestic work for several families in Lyon County, Iowa. In the early 1930’s she moved to Peoria, IL to do domestic work with the Triebel family. On December 29, 1935 she was baptized at Princeville, IL. She remained with the Triebel family for 50 years. Emma moved back to Iowa in 1979 to be near family. In 2010 Emma entered the Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids, IA.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and handiwork. She was an excellent cook and her family enjoyed her baking.

This past Tuesday, January 22, 2013 Emma died at the Lyon Manor Nursing Home in Rock Rapids at the age of 97.

She is survived by five siblings, Paulina Knobloch of Rock Rapids, IA, Wilbert (Helen) Knobloch of Lester, IA, Wilma Hoogeveen of Rock Rapids, IA, Violet (Ray) Luthi of Lamar, MO and Adolph (Jean) Knobloch of Algona, IA; three sisters-in-law, Helen Knobloch of Larchwood, IA, Phylis Knobloch of Peoria, IL and Vera Knobloch of Lester, IA; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dietrich and Julia Knobloch; four sisters, Julia, Elizabeth, Lydia and Emelie; and five brothers, Ernst, Albert, Dietrich, Benjamin and Earl.
