Larry Beimers

Larry Beimers, age 74 of Archer, IA passed away at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, IA on Thursday, November 22nd.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn, IA.  Rev. Al Van Dellen will be officiating. Visitation will be at the Sanborn Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30th with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A private family burial will be held at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn prior to the memorial service. The Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn is in charge of the arrangements for 74 year-old Larry Beimers of Archer.

Evelyn L. Corbett

Evelyn L. Corbett age 95 formerly of Ashton, IA died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 26, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Clinton Honkomp and Father Timothy Hogan as concelebrants. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 25th from 4-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton. There will be a rosary at 4:00 PM and a vigil service at 7:00 PM Sunday evening.

In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred by the Corbett family.


Donna Zens

Donna Zens, age 80 of Boyden, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.

Her visitation will be from 10:00 – 12 noon on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home; Boyden, Iowa with further Funeral Services to be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 24th at the Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Zell, SD.

Donna Jean Zens the daughter of Otto and Marian (Hawke) Hansen was born October 15, 1932 in Redfield, South Dakota. She attended country school and later school in Doland, South Dakota. On December 28, 1963 she was united in marriage to Eugene Zens in Redfield, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in South Dakota, Boyden, Iowa, Blaine, Minnesota before returning to Boyden, Iowa where the couple lived for many years. She worked as a waitress and for many years as a babysitter caring for many babies and small children in the family. Her husband preceded her in death on January 14, 2000 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She remained in Boyden until entering the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa several days ago. She passed away at Pleasant Acres on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 reaching the age of 80 years, 1 month and 5 days.

She enjoyed her time babysitting, spending time camping with her husband at Lake Shetek and playing cards.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory her brothers and sisters, Joyce and her husband, John Jansen of Ashton, South Dakota; Lyle and his wife, Mildred Hansen of Yakima, Washington; Lester and his wife, Joan Hansen of Boyden, Iowa and Carol and her husband, Oscar Woodfork of Redfield, South Dakota; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents, Otto and Marian; one sister, Bernadine and her husband, Lloyd Lewis.


Alice Krueger

Alice Krueger, age 94, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sibley. Rev. James Berka officiating. Burial at 1:00 P.M. at the Lakefield Cemetery in Lakefield, MN.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, prior to the Funeral Service from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sibley.

ROSE E. GODBERSEN, 79, of rural Quimby, Iowa, passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2012 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 24th, at 10:30 a.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Quimby Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Frances L. Bruggom

Frances L. Bruggom, age 88, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn.

Memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Sheldon United Methodist Church in Sheldon, with Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating. Burial with a graveside service will be held at 9:30 A.M. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, Iowa.

Visitation will be after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Frances Lavonne Bruggom, the daughter of Harry and Alma (Idso) Johnson was born on April 3, 1924 on the family farm in Baker Township, O’Brien County, Iowa.

She received her education in rural O’Brien County Schools and graduated from Archer High School in 1941. She continued her education receiving her BA from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. Frances was united in marriage to William Bruggom on November 27, 1946, in the Little Brown Church of Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm south of Sheldon. Frances was a teacher as she taught in the rural schools for three years and then taught in the Sheldon School District for fifteen years retiring in 1975. The couple moved to Sheldon in 1975. Bill preceded her in death on November 11, 2001. In 2006 Frances moved to the Christian Retirement Home. She passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Prairie View Nursing Home after a brief illness, reaching the age of 88 years, 7 months and 16 days.

She was a member of the United Methodist church in Sheldon. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, traveling and spending time with her family.

Frances is survived by a daughter, Laurie and her husband Walt Pruiksma of Sheldon and a son, Mark and his wife Glenda Bruggom of Everly, Iowa; five grandchildren, Erin and her husband Jay Whitcanack, Katie Pruiksma, Megan and her husband Peter Jaques, Marcus and Micah Bruggom; five great grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Johnson of Urbandale, Iowa, other relatives and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Marvin Johnson and in infancy, Gordon Johnson.
