Nicole Schuett

Nicole Schuett, 40, of Le Mars, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following a 2 year courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with Reverend Gary Landsness officiating.  Inurnment will be at a later date at the Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Iowa.

Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Memorials can be directed to the Le Mars Community School District Foundation  to establish a scholarship in Nicole’s memory.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Nicole, daughter of Phil and Pam (Tiernan) Grove was born on July 15, 1971 in Des Moines.  She attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon HS  in 1990.  She attended Morningside College and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  She graduated with a degree in Education and taught special education at Remsen Union before moving to Le Mars in 2000, where she taught special education in the Le Mars Middle School the past 12 years.

Nicole was united in marriage to Chris Schuett on October 1, 1994.  They have two children, Alexandria, 19, Zachary, 15, and a dog named Buddy.  Nicole never missed an opportunity to attend her children’s sporting events or other activities; and she loved their family vacations.

Nicole also loved spending time with her many school friends, and spending weekends at Lake Okoboji during the summer, hanging out with friends, boating, and laying by the pool.  She was the life of any party and her laugh and great sense of humor were contagious. She always lit up a room with her presence.

Nicole was a member of St John’sLutheran Church where she taught confirmation classes and Sunday School for several years; she was a past member of the YMCA Board; and she volunteered to help with various activities in which her children were involved.  Nicole was an inspiration to others with her positive attitude throughout her battle with Cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Chris; children Alexandria and Zachary; parents Phil and Pam Grove of Sheldon; brother, Shawn Grove and his wife Jennifer, and their son Landon and future son Easton of Charlotte, NC; her grandparents: Dewayne Peterson of Laurens, IA, Jeannette Grove of Lake City, IA, and Kenneth Tiernan and his wife Ruth of Albuquerque, NM; her husband’s parents John and Becky Schuett of Spirit Lake, IA;  in-laws:  Tim Schuett and his family Carter, Molly, and Logan of Hudson, WI and Emily Bossard and her husband Dave and their son Lucas of Milford, IA.

Nicole was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Bossard; maternal grandmother, Pearl Peterson and paternal grandfather Leland Grove. ©

Johanna Wagenaar, age 88, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at her home in Sheldon.

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 12 from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Diana K. Meendering

Diana K. Meendering, age 65, of  Matlock, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Her service will be 10:30am Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Craig Nissen and Rev. Bob Donley ~ officiating. Burial with will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock.

Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2012 after 2:00pm with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.

Diana Kay Meendering, the daughter of Virgil and Viola (Keizer) Menning was born January 4, 1947 in Sheldon, Iowa. She grew-up on a farm near Archer where she received her education and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1965. Diana was united in marriage on October 22, 1965 to James Meendering at the Reformed Church in Archer, Iowa. The couple made their home in Matlock for the past 45 years. Diana was a mother and homemaker all of her life and in 2000, she started working at the Sheldon Hospital in the Dietary Department for 12 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, James on August 11, 2002. Diana remained in her home until passing away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa reaching the age of 65 years, 6 months and 6 days.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. She loved gardening and was famous for her homemade buns and potato salad. She was all about family and family dinners and she enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Diana is survived by her four children and their spouses, Debra and Joe Schuetz of Sheldon, Iowa; Bob and Tricia Meendering of Sheldon, Iowa; Jim and Lora Meendering of Matlock, Iowa; Kelly and Craig Klatt of Sheldon, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, Kaylin Schuetz, Adam (Cassie) Schuetz and Casey Schuetz; Brice, Abbi, Kloe and Ellie Meendering; Jesse, Wyatt, Erin and James Meendering; Samantha, Connor and Koby Klatt; three great-grandchildren, Rilee, Khason Meendering and Taylor Michelson; her mother, Viola Menning of Sheldon, Iowa; two sisters, Carol and her husband, Larry Van Donslear of Archer, Iowa and Sue Mouw of Sheldon, Iowa; three sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her father, one brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.


Peter De Jong

Peter De Jong, age 85, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, July 12, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Harlan De Jong will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. There will be a prayer service on Thursday, at 9:30am, at the church.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.


Ronald J. Hinrichs

Ronald J. Hinrichs, age 64, of Ellsworth, MN died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth with Reverend Calvin Hsu officiating. Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth, MN.

Visitation will be Friday, July 13th from 2-8 pm with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is handling services.

 

 


Donald J. Soderquist

Donald J. Soderquist, age 92, of Sibley, IA died Sunday July 8, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12th at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating.  Burial will take place prior to the service and family and friends are invited to gather at the Jurrens Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday to leave in procession to the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.  Military honors will be presented by the George E. Mudge American Legion Post 324 and the William F. Allard VFW Post 7373.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11th from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.
