Glenda Clarion Groen Sneller of Dalhart, Texas

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Dalhart at 10:00 am Monday June 4, 2012.  Officiating will be pastors Jerry Davis former Dalhart pastor of People’s Church and Dan Martin pastor of Liberty Baptist in Dalhart. The Sneller family asks that all memorials be given to the Liberty Baptist Building Fund of Dalhart in loving memory of Glenda.

Glenda was born in Little Rock, Iowa on October 20, 1941.  She graduated high school from Rock Rapids, Iowa. She married Bernie Sneller on February 5, 1960. Glenda and Bernie made their home on a farm 10 miles north of Doon, Iowa, where they started a family of 9 children. In 1981 they moved to Dalhart, Texas. Glenda worked at the hardware store in Dalhart and then became the secretary of Peoples Church for 16 years. She retired and volunteered at the Good Samaritan and substitute taught at Dalhart Christian Academy. She was an avid gardener and loved children.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lena Groen, brother Verlyn Groen, niece Melissa, nephew Micah Groen, nephew Tyler Van Beek grand daughter Ashley Smith.

She is survived by her husband Bernie Sneller of Dalhart. Her children; son, Randy Sneller, wife Wanda of Clovis, NM. daughter, Lori Porter and husband Paul of Amarillo, daughter Debbie Howell and husband Casey of Amarillo, son Jeff Sneller and wife Janie of Dalhart, daughter Lonna Frerich and husband Allen of Dalhart, daughter Dawn Bitting and husband Robert of Frisco, Texas, son David Sneller and wife Kay of Dumas, daughter Amy Smith and husband Larry of Dalhart and son Cory Sneller and wife Amber of Oklahoma City, Ok.  She had 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.


Kathryn “Katie” Krahling

Kathryn “Katie” Krahling, age 91 of Ashton, IA died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA.

Funeral service will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1st, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, IA with Rev. Tony Metz officiating.  Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near George.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA.


Donald Denny

Donald Denny, age 85 of Hartley, IA passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday, May 28, 2012.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.  Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, IA.  Rev. Jeff Filkins will be officiating.

Visitation will be at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 31st starting at 2:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

The Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for 85 year-old Donald Denny of Hartley, IA.


Mr. Jerome Reuter

Mr. Jerome Reuter, age 82, of Hospers, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, May 31, at10:30am, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers.  The Rev. Paul Eisle will officiate.  Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be after4:00pm on Wednesday, with a Knight’s of Columbus rosary at 5:00pm, a parish prayer service at 7:00pm, and the family present from 4:00pm to 5:30pm and 6:30pm to 8:00pm, at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

 

 


Alberta Jatho Dahnke

Alberta Jatho – Dahnke, age 87 of Hartley, IA passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, IA on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hartley. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, IA.  Fr. Tim Hogan will be officiating.

Visitation will be at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 29th starting at 2:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.  A scripture prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

The Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for 87 year-old Alberta Jatho – Dahnke of Hartley, IA.


Joan G. Mullin

Joan G. Mullin, age 77, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

Her service will be 10:30am Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Fr. Allan Reicks ~ officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation will be Friday, May 25th after 2:00pm with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, A Christian Wake Service will be at 7:00pm and a CD of A Rosary will be at 7:30pm Friday at the Funeral Home.

Joan Gertrude Mullin, daughter of Otto and Charlotte (Full) Hodapp, was born September 1, 1934 in Granville, Iowa. She attended school in Granville and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1952. Joan was united in marriage to Daniel S. Mullin on April 27, 1957 in Granville. They made their home on a farm south of Sheldon, near Hospers.  To this union five children were born. Dan preceded her in death on December 1, 1985 in Sioux Falls, SD. After his death Joan worked for Wolf’s Department Store in Sheldon before going back to school at NCC and WIT to get her RN degree.  Joan worked as an RN in Sheldon, Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, and the Paullina Care Center in Paullina, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

Joan was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Churches Ladies Guild. She enjoyed reading, painting, sewing, gardening, and she loved to travel.

Joan is survived by her four children, Tim Mullin and wife Cheri, of Hospers, IA; Kathleen Mullin and husband Alan Fukushima, of Ames, IA; Peggy Pohlen and husband Dan, of Hospers, IA; Patty Engelhardt and husband Tim, of Elkader, IA; 14 grandchildren, Christi (Kendall) Anderson, Josh (Sheryl) Weber, April (Travis) Klein, Bridget (Colton) Eich, and Sean Mullin; Katie Fukushima; Aaron, Sarah, Thomas, and Alex  Pohlen; Amber, Erin, Nick, and Josh Engelhardt; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Elaine Callahan of Sibley, IA; Alice Wittkop of Marcus, IA; Margie and Allen Bergeson of Wall Lake, SD; Georgia and Francis Croat of Onamia, MN; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; infant son, Michael; grandson, Michael Pohlen; her parents; and brother, Conrad Hodapp.
