Sheldon Crossing Duplex Project Construction Nearly Complete On First Building

Sheldon, Iowa — A new duplex housing project in eastern Sheldon is nearing completion, and the two units will soon be available for purchase.

Gered De Hoogh is one of the developers, and he talks about the motivation to undertake such a project.

(As above) “It was an idea we had early last year and kinda worked with the SCDC get some lots purchased and everything just with the housing in Sheldon not really seeming to take off too readily, we just kind of wanted to promote some business for local businesses and maybe some new housing for people looking to maybe downsize or get into a new area of town.”

De Hoogh tells us about the new duplex units.

(As above) “They’re about thirteen hundred fifty square foot per unit, and there’s a zero entry unit so there is not a step in the place. They’re in the Sheldon Crossing Addition, we’re using all local contractors on this project, and all high quality materials there’s going to be storm shelter in each unit as well.”

He says each unit will feature an open floor plan design.

(As above) “Each one will have two bathrooms two bedrooms, full open living kitchen area, laundry room, back patio. Inside the garage we plan to put in custom storage cabinets for some extra storage. All the cabinets on the interior will be custom built, so there will be quite a bit of storage on the inside. The showers are going to be an onyx shower, so they’re gonna be high quality material there, too.”

De Hoogh says the first duplex in the Sheldon Crossing Duplex Project should be ready for sale and occupancy sometime this summer. He says they bought two building lots, and when both units in the first duplex are sold, they intend to begin construction on a second, right next door.
