Body Found In Tree Near Sheldon Skate Park

Sheldon, Iowa — Shortly before 7:00 Saturday evening Sheldon police were summoned to the northeast side of the city park after a 911 caller reported what looked like a body hanging from a tree in the area near the skate park.

Sheldon Police, ambulance and fire crews, along with an O’Brien County Sheriff’s Deputy, responded to the area and discovered the lifeless body of a young male subject who had apparently committed suicide.

The name of the deceased has not been released, but it is thought that he may be the same individual who had been the subject of a welfare check a couple of weeks earlier.

The police investigation continues, pending autopsy results.
