Friday will be a snowy day across the area, with travel impacts expected. Snow will spread eastward as the morning commute progresses, with locations west of I-29 more likely to have early morning accumulations and slick roads. The greater impact will be during the evening commute, due to snow-covered roads area-wide, and reduced visibility with persistent light to moderate snow. Early Wednesday Morning Fire Extinguished at Ag Partners

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Fire Crews had an early morning wake-up call Wednesday morning as they responded to the report of a building on fire at Ag Partners in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Fire Company was paged out at 1:52 AM for the report from a passerby of flames shooting out of a building at Ag Partners.  Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a fire on the north side of an outbuilding on the property. Crews quickly determined that a bulk storage tank with about 2000 gallons of animal fat was on fire. Firefighters attacked the blaze using water with foam and were able to contain the fire in about 30 minutes. There was damage to an exterior and interior wall and smoke in the building.

Firefighters used about 13,000 gallons of water and 125 gallons of foam.

The fire is not deemed as suspicious and according to Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt was most likely electrical in nature.

Sheldon fire crews had 20 firefighters on-scene and were assisted by Sheldon Police, SCAT, and O’Brien County EMA.
