The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 6:40 a.m., 29-year-old Nicole Plendl of Orange City was driving a 2013 Ford F‐150 pickup westbound on 370th Street, about five miles northeast of Sioux Center, near Middleburg. They report that 25-year-old Marleni Hernandez‐Tomas of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan eastbound on 370th Street.

The Sioux Center Ambulance Squad also took Plendl and a one-year-old passenger to Sioux Center Health.

The Plendl pickup sustained about $15,000 in damage. The Hernandez-Tomas Honda sustained about $10,000 in damage, both according to the report.

Authorities cited Hernandez‐Tomas on charges of failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Rescue Squad and Sioux Center Ambulance Squad, as well as the Sioux Center Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol assisted them with the response to the accident.
