UPDATE: Emergency Crews Called To Mishap In Shopko Parking Lot

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was taken to the hospital following a mishap in the Shopko parking lot Thursday afternoon.

According to Sheldon police, the mishap occurred when a 2007 Ford Edge, driven by 84-year old Marlene Van Drie of Sheldon, was backing from a parking space in the Sheldon Shopko lot, and struck a pedestrian, 68-year old Valerye Ehlers, of Sheldon, causing her to fall.

Van Drie reportedly told police she had looked behind her, but didn’t see Ehlers.

Ehlers was taken to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT.

Sheldon Police were assisted at the scene by the Sheldon Fire Company, Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and Sheldon Emergency Management Agency.

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Emergency Services crews…Police, Fire, SCAT and EMA… were called to the Sheldon Shopko store Thursday afternoon to the report of a personal-injury traffic accident.

Witnesses tell KIWA that a car backing from a parking spot in Shopko’s parking lot came in contact with a pedestrian.
