Firefighters Fight Blaze in Sanborn

Sanborn, Iowa– An outbuilding was damaged in a fire on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in Sanborn.

According to Sanborn Fire Chief Randy Lyman, about 2:05 p.m., the Sanborn Fire Department was called to the report of a building fire at 210 Brady Street, which is a farm place in town in northern Sanborn.

The chief says the fire department saw the building on fire as they approached the scene, and they were able to quickly put out the flames. He says since they usually have a small group of firefighters available for daytime fires, they asked the Sheldon Fire Company to be paged, but when the Sanborn firefighters got to the fire, they told dispatch to tell the Sheldon firefighters that they wouldn’t need them.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Lyman says no injuries were reported.

Chief Lyman reports that there was moderate damage to the building and contents. He says the building was being used for storage.

He says they used a couple hundred gallons of water to fight the fire, and the seven firefighters who responded were on scene for about an hour.
