Hull, Iowa– A barn was destroyed and some livestock was lost in a fire on Friday, February 2, 2018 near Hull.
According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 11:25 a.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a barn fire in the 2900 block of Indian Avenue, two miles east and at least two miles north of Hull, on the east side of the road.
The chief says the fire department saw flames coming from the barn as they approached the scene. He says they used an external attack, followed by an internal attack to fight the fire.
Van Roekel says two show lambs in the barn didn’t make it.
The fire department was assisted by the Rock Valley and Boyden Fire Departments.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
Chief Van Roekel reports that there was extensive damage and does not believe the barn is repairable.
He says the 25 to 30 firefighters who responded were on scene for about an hour and a half.
