Iowa City Woman Accused Of Leading Spencer, Milford Officers On Pursuit

Northwest Iowa — An Iowa City woman faces a laundry list of charges following an incident that took place shortly after midnight Friday.

According to Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton, one of his officers initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation on Spencer’s west side. Warburton says the vehicle failed to yield for the traffic stop and led Spencer Police on a short pursuit, reaching speeds in excess of 90 mph. The Chief says the vehicle left the roadway west of Spencer and drove through a field of standing corn causing damage. He says the vehicle eluded law enforcement until Milford Police Department officers made contact with the same vehicle at approximately 1:00 am in the city of Milford.

Warburton says that once Milford officers encountered the vehicle, it once again attempted to evade police by driving through barricade road construction zone before again eluding police.

Warburton says investigation into the incident led to the unoccupied vehicle being recovered next to the SouthView apartments in Milford.  At that time, the vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Okoboji.

According to Warburton, further investigation led Spencer Police and Milford Police Departments to charge 32-year-old Shana Mull of Iowa City with numerous traffic offenses including:  Eluding (class D felony), failure to obey a stop sign, speed, driving left of center, failure to have a valid license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and criminal mischief.  The Chief says Mull is currently being held in the Dickinson County Jail.
