Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley man was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash Friday morning (February 1st) in Sibley.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place about 8:00 Friday morning when 60-year old David E. Kleinwolterink of Sibley was eastbound on 2nd Street in a 2012 Chevrolet Volt. Deputies say 61-year old Verlyn Jeffrey Smidt of Sibley was stopped for the northbound stop sign at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 2nd Street in a City of Sibley 2019 Peterbilt garbage truck. Smidt told deputies he proceeded into the intersection without seeing the Kleinwolterink car, which struck the truck broadside.
